John Evans’s career in education spans 30 years, serving as a technology education teacher, technology director, coach, athletic director, adjunct professor for New York Institute of Technology, assistant principal, assistant superintendent and superintendent.

He has 14 years of experience as a superintendent, having led the Roscoe, Livingston Manor, and Downsville school districts. John served as a shared superintendent for all 3 districts from January 2017 through June 2022.

This three-way shared leadership model, the first of its kind in New York State, allowed small rural schools to achieve greater efficiencies through sharing and collaboration, while greatly expanding educational opportunities for students.

John’s experience in inter-district and inter-municipal collaboration makes him an excellent resource for fostering strong partnerships and achieving shared goals among various communities.

He is a lifelong resident of Sullivan County and the Catskill Mountains and is an outdoor enthusiast who enjoys everything the Catskills have to offer.
