Rockland plans back to school events

Rockland Central School District will celebrate the start of the new year with back to school events later this month.

  • Rockland Elementary School will host its Back to School Event from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, at the school at 6 Academy St. in Roscoe. Teachers will be in their rooms for the first hour of Back to School Night for a meet-and-greet parent night. Throughout the event there will be food, activities and other fun in the Coach Ahart gym, playground area and near the bus loop. The rain date is Sept. 23.

  • Rockland Middle/High School will host its Back to School Event from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, around the school track at 19 School St. in Livingston Manor. The theme is “Blast from the Past—Headed to the Future.” Staff will be dressed by the decades. There will be then-and-now displays, games and challenges, food and treats and more. Tours of the building will be offered upon request at 4:30 and 5:30 p.m. Call Rosa Finkel at 845-439-1501 to sign up. The rain date is Sept. 24.

Both events will offer the opportunity to meet the school staff, learn more about the programs the schools offer, connect with other Rockland community members and organizations and have some fun.
