Fall sports roundup
The Rockland Central School District completed its first athletic season this fall, culminating with the girls soccer team and the cross country team competing in sectionals.
“The Rockland Wolves demonstrated outstanding progress and made our community proud,” Athletic Director Chris Hubert said. “The sectional appearances highlighted our competitive spirit.”
Below is a roundup of all of our Fall Sports Teams seasons, written by their coaches, with photos by Jeanne Sager Photography:
Varsity Soccer
The Girls Varsity soccer team had a successful year, finishing the season 10-6 with a berth into the Section 9 Class C playoffs. All year, this team was competitive all year winning many close games and finishing with a league record of 3-3. The Wolves were a gritty team that featured a solid defensive backbone and an attack that constantly put pressure on the opposing teams. The program is graduating eight seniors this year, Kelsey Ryder, Leah Ladenhauf, Alivia Garcia, Olivia Stickle, Jewel Wright, Julia Meola, Kaelyn Perry and Gianna Dutcher. These girls were a huge part in our success this year and leave behind two section titles in their time in the program. The soccer program looks to continue its success next and is poised for a great future as young talent continues to grow.

Varsity Cross Country
With a roster of five boys and four girls, this group showed commitment, resilience, and heart from the very first practice. They supported one another, pushed through tough workouts, and learned what it means to be part of something bigger than themselves. This year, we also said goodbye to four seniors who have been the backbone of our program. Their leadership, work ethic, and positive spirit shaped this team, and while their presence will be missed, we are excited to see where their journeys lead next.
Each athlete grew tremendously over the course of the season—earning personal bests, building confidence, and discovering new strengths. We traveled to Tully, Mount Academy, and ultimately to Sectionals in early November. Although we didn’t advance to States, the team competed with pride and showed admirable determination at every meet.
This season wasn’t just about times or results—it was about growth, character, and the bonds formed along the way. I am proud of every member of this team and grateful for the effort they brought day after day. As we look ahead, I’m excited to build on what we’ve started and to continue growing together next year.

Varsity Football
The 2025 Varsity Football season was a success. Our team played more games this season than had been played since 2022. We were able to field enough players to play six games vs two last year and only one the year before.
Our record was 1-5. We won a forfeit vs Fallsburg but struggled in our other games. Toward the end of the season, we held opponents to lower scores and scored ourselves to make the games more competitive.
We had three seniors who will be leaving the program. They are Patrick Gorr, Marc Nieves, and Kareem Wall. They will be missed.
We have a team loaded with juniors and sophomores and the promise of several modified players coming up to the ranks next season. Better times ahead.
As the season progressed, we improved our skills because we committed to coming to practice and working hard while in practice. As our attitude and effort improved, so did our results and it showed in the games.
From myself and Coach Rogers, thanks for all of the support this season.

JV Volleyball
This fall season was quite the journey for our student athletes. Many were brand new to the sport and for some it would be their last time playing, which brought on an array of emotions and determination. The team demonstrated tremendous growth, resilience and heart at each and every match. From the first practice to the final match, these athletes developed new skills and grew in their confidence. Every time they stepped foot on the court, the team showed progress in their serves, a tighter serve-receive, stronger defense, amazing hits, smart decision plays, and they never stopped fighting. I'm beyond proud of the strides made this season, setting a strong foundation for what's ahead as we move into varsity next year.

Modified Cross Country
As another season came to an end, my solo runner Bartolomeo Bubbico powered through despite being the only person on the team. This did not discourage him and he was determined to improve his time throughout the season. Our first meet brought us to Camp Hugenot in Port Jervis where Bart posted an impressive time of 15 minutes and 2 seconds. This tricky course can be difficult to conquer but he did not give up. By the time our last two meets came around, Bart was able to shave off nearly 2 minutes of his time. At our final meet of the year in Orange County, Bart raced against nearly 100 other boys where he posted a time of 13 minutes 28 seconds. This was a personal best for him as he closed the season. I reminded Bart that he needs to keep working hard even in the off season to continuously improve. As he moves into Varsity next year with Mr.J, I wish him luck and another successful season. Hopefully next year the modified team will bounce back with lots of new runners to compete.

Modified Football
The modified football was able to complete its second straight undefeated season. The team went 6-0 while holding their opponents to only 28 combined points on the season. Coach Evans and I were very happy with their continued growth as a team this year. We look forward to seeing the freshman moving up to help bring success to the varsity team and the seventh and eighth grades to grow and keep our program successful going forward.

Modified Soccer
It was a very successful Modified Soccer Season. This year's team had 15 players—five freshmen, five eighth graders and six seventh graders. The girls had a total of 11 games and we finished the season with six wins, two loses and three ties. All of our games were very competitive, usually they were decided by 1 goal. There were many highlights to the season. One was playing Sullivan West three times and the final results were ties. Other highlights to the season was having a pinkout game and playing a night against Eldred. The girls spent a lot of time working on shooting, passing and moving without the ball. A lot of the girls ended up getting a significant amount of playing time helping them get ready for the varsity. I can not wait to see what this team looks like when they get to the varsity level. Good luck in the rest of the school year and keep working hard.
— Coach Evan Bowers
Modified Volleyball
The Modified Girls Volleyball team has just finished a season of true growth. While we did not capture as many "W's" as we would have liked, the team underwent incredible growth in skill, teamwork, mistake recovery, and overall team strategy. We have established a great foundation that we plan to continue to build upon next season. We look forward to continuing to increase our numbers and skills as we look ahead to all that next season holds. Great job ladies! Be proud and we will see you next season!
